Developing virtual reality experiences for the jobs of the future.

What is Glimpse Labs?

Glimpse Labs was a start-up with a mission to create virtual reality experiences for high school students in order to help them gain a better understanding of current and future job opportunities. The goal was to provide students with the information they needed to make informed decisions about their education and career paths, so that they could be better prepared for success in the workforce.

This project was led by Dominic Bechard as producer and director, with development by myself and Eric Cox. The voices for the project were provided by Bailey Viney, and Guiliana Inga contributed to the design.

My Role

During my time at Glimpse Labs I had the opportunity to use Unity to develop Virtual Reality experiences for the Oculus Quest 2. This experience not only allowed me to improve my Unity skills, but also gave me insights into the tech world's start-up culture and investment process.

As part of my responsibilities at the company, I was responsible for setting up and managing the project's repository on GitHub, developing standard VR features, programming and designing a range of unique activities, problem-solving to work around technical limitations, and participating in weekly team meetings. Overall, my time at Glimpse Labs was a valuable learning experience that allowed me to grow both technically and professionally.

Demo Video

Our VR experience at Glimpse Labs allows users to step into the role of a Mechatronic Engineer and create a robotic product from start to finish. The player completes different tasks from sketching to programming, all while gaining an immersive, firsthand look at the entire process.
